Taylor Street – Chicago

Part of a pilot program for the City of Chicago and Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, Taylor Street combines affordable housing with a neighborhood amenity, to help revitalize the Little Italy neighborhood. It is the product of a public-private partnership between the Chicago Housing Authority, the Chicago Public Library, and Related Midwest.

One of its goals was to provide high level design for affordable housing, while maintaining project budgets.

The structure is an efficient reinforced concrete flat plate for the 73 apartments, and a long-span post-tensioned slab over the library.
